  3. The Macintosh II is a high performance, open architecture Macintosh for
  4. advanced productivity, high end desktop publishing, and scientific and
  5. engineering applications.
  6.  
  7. Its features include:
  8.  
  9. --  A 68020 microprocessor with a 32-bit data bus that operates at 16 Mhz.
  10.     The Macintosh II can open and close applications and files, access data,
  11.     and execute graphics and calculations up to four times faster than
  12.     the Macintosh Plus.
  13.  
  14. --  68881 floating point co-processor works with the 68020 microprocessor
  15.     to perform operations such as multiplication, division, sine, and cosine.
  16.     The 68881 co-processor enables the Macintosh II to carry out mathematical
  17.     calculations 40 to 200 times faster than the 68020 microprocessor.

  19. --  6 Nu-Bus expansion slots. Each expansion card can be placed in any of
  20.     the slots, avoiding theneed for dip switches. Any card can take control
  21.     of the system from the main logic board, allowing users to work within
  22.     other operating environments.

  24. --  One built-in internal 800K floppy drive, along with the capability of
  25.     adding another drive as memory requirements grow.
  26.  
  27. --  An enhanced internal SCSI connector. It allows users to increase their
  28.     storage capacity by installing an internal SCSI hard disk.
  29.  
  30. --  Six built-in ports including:
  31.  
  32.     -- One SCSI port (internal and external)
  33.     -- Two RS 422 serial ports
  34.     -- One stereo sound port
  35.     -- Two Apple Desktop Bus ports
  36.  
  37. --  One megabyte of RAM, expandable to two, four, five, or eight megabytes.
  38.  
  39. --  256K ROM, which is a superset of the Macintosh 128K ROM. It supports
  40.     the Hierarchical File System, external drives, AppleTalk, and the SCSI
  41.     port.  ROM's contain support for color.
  42.  
  43. --  The Apple digital sound chip provides four-voice stereo sound.
  44.  
  45. Two configurations for the Macintosh II are available in May, 1987.
  46. The entry system includes the CPU, 68881 floating point co-processor,
  47. one megabyte of RAM, one 800K 3 1/2-inch floppy disk drive and a mouse.

  49. The hard disk system includes everything in the entry system plus
  50. an internal 40 megabyte hard disk drive.
  51.  
  52. Remember that the keyboard, monitor, video card, and video card expansion
  53. kit for the Macintosh II must be purchased separately.
